Santa Fe Industrial Railroad

DCC Wiring

My choice for DCC control is Digitrax.

The previous layout was actually designed for radio throttle control some three years before it appeared on the market. Digitrax was the first to introduce radio throttles and that was good enough for me. It proved to be a wise decision for Digitrax has introduced a number of components to make it a very versatile system.

The command station is a Digitrax Chief. I doubted that I would use all its power but the added features, like four digit addressing, were too good to resist.

All throttles are radio controlled.

The command station feds a PM4 Power Manager. It worked out perfectly as the four sections provide circuit breaker protection for the four major sections (Industrial Area A, Yard Area C, Staging Area D and Industrial Area E).

I had a couple of BDL162 Block Detectors from the previous layout, I decided to use one on this layout. It really does not need it but I wired the modules for it anyway.

More to be added ....
